The “Other” Room

April 25th, 2011 § Leave a Comment

As the title suggests I didn’t want to call this the spare room- I feel this word is associated with storage/ extra. As we will be in a 2 bedroom place there will be another room- located in front of the house. As it goes, we have been tossing around ideas and a guestroom just isn’t going to cut it as we won’t be having many guests over and it’s going to be just the 2 of us for the most part. I would like a craft room but as I have only just begun craft I don’t want to solely make this that.

For the moment I will leave this to be a work-in-progress but it will definitely be a study of some sort and have to be accessible for when my parents come visit us. I have been inspired to make it a small studio/study and a serene sanctuary!

Here is just snapshot of what inspires me, I aspire to and storage ideas- I have a great love for storage!

home deco

I have looking at different home decorating ideas and colour coordinating for the home and cannot wait for the day we move into our new place. The pair of us are overjoyed and can’t contain our happiness. We have already started getting bits and pieces for the house and it’s so fun.  We never really did this stuff first time around aka “before we got married” and also never spent much time or money on it.

One of my favourite spaces of course would have to be my vanity which I have not decided on. When I do find something I like – it will be just right.

As for now, it’s just the basics. Over the next 3-6 months of moving in (end May) I will be working on embellishing- as I love to do!

Yes, a four post bed would be nice but I don’t think it would be practical.

My wardrobe won’t be that big but it’s nice to look at, no.

I have never been big on getting things for my home but now I’m on a mission to decorate my new place. Since I started working around fine jewellery china, and glassware I have a greater apprecaition for all things nice and cut crystal. I have just purchased my first crystal glassware. We need some glasses for our new place and popped into Myer yesterday where they are having a mid-year sale 50% off alot of stuff, so I took the opportunity to get a few things.

I got the Luigi Bormolio Canaletto range because they stood out immediately to me. I want everything in that range but I only needed the short tumblers and red wine glasses. I may go back to get the long tumblers!

Lilacs

I recently smelled the lovely Balenciaga perfume and it based with lilac top notes. I am in love with the scent and even though it’s been a few days, the smell is still lingering around. As the change in season comes along, I think they are just lovely and romantic.

Over the last little while, I found out that we have a place to move into. It’s a brand-new townhouse with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom! I am overjoyed and feeling on top of the world. Although the house isn’t ready yet, we should be able to move in by the end of May. This means prepping for the big move. I have always wanted to start from scratch and true to the word we are doing just that.

So for the inspiration I am pulling options from my favourite places online:

layers of grey

This winter: my inspiration. I have already started collecting grey pieces. I’ve got a trench coat, 3/4-sleeve blazer, and a skirt. I’ve had an abundance of grey scarves so that’s not a problem.
